Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to everyone who uses LiteSurface, including customers and their Authorized Users. It forms part of our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms have the meanings given there. The examples below are not exhaustive; if you are unsure whether something is allowed, ask us at legal@litesurface.com first.

Do not submit, generate, store, or share content through the Service that:

1. is illegal, or promotes or facilitates illegal activity;
2. sexually exploits or endangers children, in any form (we report such content to the appropriate authorities);
3. infringes or misappropriates intellectual property, trade secrets, or privacy or publicity rights;
4. harasses, threatens, defames, or promotes violence or hatred against people based on protected characteristics;
5. contains malware, exploits, or other code intended to cause harm;
6. includes personal data you have no lawful basis to process, or special categories of personal data (such as health, biometric, or government identification data) unless you have a clear need, the right to use it, and have marked the relevant fields as not for models; or
7. you are bound by contract or law not to disclose to third parties.

Do not use the Service to, or attempt to:

1. access another customer’s workspace, project, or data, or bypass authentication, authorization, or tenant isolation;
2. circumvent rate limits, budgets, usage caps, or other technical limits, or create accounts by automated means to avoid them;
3. overload, disrupt, or degrade the Service or its providers, including through excessive automated requests;
4. share accounts, or resell access to the Service without our written permission;
5. send spam or unsolicited messages, including through workspace invitations;
6. commit fraud, impersonate any person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation; or
7. violate export control or sanctions laws.

The research fetcher retrieves pages at your direction. It identifies itself with its own user agent, respects robots.txt, refuses private and internal network addresses, and limits size and time. When you use it:

1. submit only URLs you are permitted to access, and do not try to get around robots.txt rules, paywalls, logins, or other access controls;
2. respect websites’ terms and copyright; use fetched content for your internal analysis, and do not republish it beyond what the law allows;
3. do not point the fetcher at internal, private, or cloud metadata addresses, or at systems you are not authorized to reach;
4. do not use the Service for bulk crawling or to place load on any website; and
5. do not use research to compile profiles of private individuals or to harvest personal data such as email addresses.

Report suspected abuse of the Service to legal@litesurface.com, and security issues to security@litesurface.com. If you are a website owner and want our fetcher to stop visiting your site, disallow its user agent in your robots.txt or contact us.

We may investigate suspected violations. Depending on severity, we may warn you, remove or disable content, restrict features, suspend accounts or workspaces, or terminate the agreement under the Terms, and we may report illegal activity to authorities. We act proportionately and, where practicable and lawful, tell you what we did and why.

We may update this policy to address new risks. We will post changes here with a new “Last updated” date, and give notice of material changes as described in the Terms.
